Our Story

Army Staff Sergeant Todd A. Winters is on his Fourth Tour of Duty to Iraq, ( he has a specialty needed that protects other soldiers, and it is rare for most soldiers to go back that many times. The entire Unit Todd served with in 2003 and 2005 have all retired from the Army and Todd serves with new recruits now. This is a common story of most of our Military serving in Iraq today.) "He is my Knight in Shining Armour, and my Elder of Israel." Though it will take time for Todd to feel The Holy Ghost give him peace after he serves this mission in Iraq, though he is the most righteous temple recommend holder, we will be sealed in the Temple after his Tour is completely over Summer of 2008. Our initial wedding though will be on his Mid-Tour Leave of 2 weeks hopefully sometime in September of 2007 and then he will return to Iraq for another 6-8 months.

He was my angel after a broken heart from a jaded divorced soldier I dated 4 months that decided to break up before being deployed because he feared he might not make it back, and Todd was the answer that I prayed for that night back from the airport. I knew the Lord had sent him to me and I felt a joy and peace in my heart. We became best friends and talked daily on the phone while he trained at Ft. Irwin, CA and then while at Ft. Benning, GA with the 3rd Infantry until he became the man of my dreams and asked me to marry him. He Fed Ex'd my ring overnight the day before he deployed and was on the phone with me until the bus took him to the plane to Kuwait. He calls me all he can from Iraq, emails me whenever he can get to a computer to tell me I am the reason he can smile in the midst of such sadness, and we can't wait to be married because we know that God has blessed us with each other. His tour of duty has been extended 3 more months and so we can’t know when we will have the last minute possibly September Fall Wedding because it can be too dangerous for them to come back. I pray with all the faith in my heart that the Lord will bring him safely back to me."

"After 2/1/2 years serving my fellow singles on my LDS Singles Calendar with 884 Singles, planning large Singles activities including Valentine’s dinners, weekly dinners to meet other singles, and congratulating dozens of engaged couples from my weekly email list, I was so thrilled to announce my own engagement which all 884 singles wish to attend and media like "Utah Brides.com" “The Daily Herald” have contacted me to do a story on."

"While Todd is away in Iraq, I found out that many soldiers never get letters while selflessly sacrificing their lives and so I started “Soldiers Are Our Heroes” with many volunteers nation wide to collect 1000s of letters and packages I send weekly to military in Iraq."
